Political writer Olivia Nuzzi has accused ex-fiancé Ryan Lizza of possibly dating Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after a months-long harassment and blackmail campaign that included stealing and hacking her devices, according to a bombshell filing.
Nuzzi, 31, was granted a no-contact order against Lizza, one of Politico’s most prominent bylines, on Tuesday in court in Washington, D.C., after she alleged he harassed her after their split early in this month, CNN reported.
She claimed Lizza, 50, “explicitly threatened to release personal information about me to destroy my life, career and reputation – a threat he has since carried out”.
Nuzzi’s career was derailed last month when she was let go from New York magazine after she admitted to having a personal relationship with RFK Jr. after profiling his independent presidential campaign last November.
Nuzzi allegedly began having sex with Kennedy, 70, shortly after the profile – and allegedly sent him “obscene nudes”.
They even had “amazing” sex over FaceTime, a source exclusively told Page Six — with Nuzzi relaying that Kennedy’s sexual stamina was impressive.
“Olivia told a lot of people that they told each other they loved each other [over the phone] every time they spoke”, a source also said.
The one-time independent presidential candidate, who is married to actress Cheryl Hines, claimed he and Nuzzi only met in person once — and sources around him have claimed she was a stalker. However, other reports claimed that the fight started after he grabbed her hand while walking for the profile part.
Nuzzi alleged in the court filing against Lizza that he orchestrated her fall from grace at the glossy magazine, claiming that he potentially “through a third party or anonymous channel,” left her job in what she calls only “issue”. €
According to court documents, the New York Times reported that Nuzzi accused Lizza of bringing “damaging information” to New York magazine.
Lizza, who covers Washington politics, has strongly denied all the allegations.
“I am saddened that my ex-fiancée would use a series of false accusations against me as a way to deflect attention from her personal and professional failings,” he told The Post.
“I vehemently deny these allegations and will defend myself against them vigorously and successfully.”
After the CNN report, Politico said in a statement that Lizza and the publication mutually agreed that Lizza would take a leave of absence pending an investigation.
Nuzzi’s no-contact order, which a judge granted Tuesday, is a typical move in domestic disputes, CNN reported.
Nuzzi said he believes Lizza began his alleged harassment campaign in July to blackmail her into a relationship with him, CNN reported.
The following month, Lizza allegedly swiped an electronic device owned by Nuzzi, hacked her devices and then tried to leak information about her to the media, according to court filings obtained by CNN.
Some of the acquired intelligence may have been “doctored” to further harm him, the court alleged.
And she claimed Lizza impersonated “an anonymous campaign operative” in order to provide information to the political campaign that would also damage her, CNN reported.
Lizza also allegedly threatened her with violence in order for her to “take his share of the financial responsibility” related to a joint book deal they had, according to court documents.
RFK was not named in the court filing.
A DC judge reportedly signed off on Nuzzi’s request to temporarily bar Lizza from contacting him and staying away from her workplace. When she goes to the home the two shared earlier this year, police will accompany her, the judge also approved.
Lizza was fired from his job at The New Yorker in 2017 after allegations of misconduct came to light. Lizza denied any wrongdoing at the time.
Nuzzi’s legal battle with Lizza comes as her magazine conducts a “more thorough third-party review” of Nuzzi’s work after an internal investigation found no evidence of bias.
Lizza previously said she would not write about RFK Jr. in Politico’s well-read Playbook because of his relationship with Nuzzi.
